Understanding to the need for multiple power points in day to day life leads to the introduction of power strips. Basically, a power strip is a ceramic or a plastic board that holds multiple sockets to plug in various different appliances. One main power supply feed all the appliances connected to it.
Present is an age when electrical appliances have become an indispensable part of our lives. Since we need to use multiple appliances at a single place like entertainment room, kitchens etc but we have limited number of power points so power strip serve the purpose more suitably.

However, power strip takes extensive care of your device as these also include a fuse in it. Additional components like power supply wave filters, noise rejectors, power supply indicators and sometimes battery power in case of emergency makes the device more popular and dependable.
Traditionally, multiple sockets with only single switch were available. But, in the present market, one can find power strips containing each socket operated by a different switch. So, cutting power supply for the desired appliances and keeping the others in on position become possible with this advancement.
Depending upon the size required by the users and the appliance’s power rating, there are plenty of such devices available. At the back side of every model, manufacturers provide the specification of that device.
The application area of this unique device is basically in a computer system. A computer in itself consists of many devices like audio, video devices, modem, printer and many more which are to be connected together. For this, power strips are needed.
In addition to computer systems, places where multiple mobile charging points are needed, power strips are mainly applicable. Laboratories in schools and colleges also require them for multiple applications.
