If you see unsightly weeds in your garden, you should realize various solutions on ways you are going to undertake it. You can use up herbicides, home-made solution, organic weed killer or do it by hand. Weeds can breed even in the nastiest form and they can broaden really fast. That is why, it is significant to act fast once you observe them emerging in your own yard.
Herbicides can either be selective or non selective and they are one of the quickest way to control weeds Selective types are the ones that hit only specific weeds, while leaving desirable plants safe. They can be used in spots with mixed growth where the wanted plants are in the same area as the weeds such as the lawn, garden and crop lands. Non selective herbicides are the kinds that get rid of not only the weeds but all types of plants that it touches. They are best for use to clear of areas such as the railways, walkways and waste grounds.
Another division of herbicides is post emergent and pre emergent weedkiller which is based on when the time they are applied. Pre-emergent, as the name suggests are used on the spots to prevent weeds from emerging in the first place. They do this by getting rid of the root system before the weeds even germinate. Post-emergent, however remove the weeds once they have grown. They are best applied when the weeds are actively growing and not when they are in their drought (semi-dormant) stage.
Natural weedkiller is a a great choice if you want to use something that is earth friendly, chemical-free and less expensive. If you are not comfortable spraying herbicides, around your vicinity, then this is the best option available for you. The great news is these types of weedkillers can be made straight right-away in your home and you might already have one in your house now.
Some examples of weedkillers that are commonly found in a household are detergent, salt and vinegar. You have got to be careful though as these are non-selective, and with that they will kill anything they are applied on. Other natural weedkillers are lemon and lime as they contain acetic acid that has the power to kill weeds .
If you have the extra time, you can also just plainly pull out the weeds once you see them emerging. Making it as a usual habit, like a few minutes a day of weeding is possible. You can also mulch to stop the growth of weeds in your garden. You can cover the areas with about two or three inches of shredded barks, wood chips or gravel and rocks. Another efficient method is to wet weeds with boiling water, the heat can certainly destroy it. Corn gluten is a natural pre-emergent weedkiller that also operate as a fertilizer when it breaks down, giving nitrogen to the plants.
So once you see the weeds starting to sprout in your area, take your option, a chemical weed killer or a natural weed killer. It’s all depends on your own style and preference. Bear in mind, the earlier and faster you attack the weeds in your lawn and garden, the easier and simpler it is to to destroy them.
